About the ShichininTai
The ShichininTai or Band of Seven were a group of merchenaries that were killed sometime in the Feudal Era. There were a 7 men army and were known throughout Japan. Their Leader is Bankotsu. Here's a list of it's members.

Bankotsu - The Leader of the ShichininTai, he carries around his naganita known as Banryuu. He is a bit cocky and naive. He died to the hands of InuYasha and grief.
Jakotsu - Bankotsu's right hand man, he carries a snake sword. A sword which expands when directed at their opponent. He is a bit awkward and a homosexual. He died due to Renkotsu's greed for his jewel shard.
Suikotsu - A man with a personality disorder, he's a reletivly kind man who's a doctor. However when his other personality emerges, his face distorts and becomes deadly and merciless. He has claws as his weapon. He died pleading to be set free by Kikyo.
Renkotsu - The 2nd in command. He uses ammunition as his weapon. He's loyal to Bankotsu until he starts thinking to start a mutiny against him. He died to Bankotsu.
Ginkotsu - A man whose been transformed into a tank when he lost his limbs. He doesn't talk much throughout the series. He's normally found by Renkotsu's side, and controls numerous gadgets as weapons. He died at the hands of InuYasha.
Mukotsu - An ugly little man who only wishes to have a wife or girlfriend. Due to his disfigured face he's unable to have either. He controls and is immune to poisons. He died at the hands of Sesshoumaru.
Kyoukotsu - A giant overgrown man more believed to be more demon that a human being, he only appeared briefly in the series. He uses his strength as a weapon. He died at the hands of InuYasha and Kouga.

They were exacuted by a lord for he feared their power. They were shot down and then beheaded. That was the end of the ShichininTai. Or was it? 15 years later, Naraku found them and brought them back to life with a jewel shard and were then contracted to kill InuYasha. However once they were reunited, one by one they were killed. They lasted for about 20 episodes before Bankotsu, who was the last one standing died. Ending the ShichininTai series that was by far the best episodes I have ever seen on InuYasha.
